About CATT
The Contemporary Art Think Tank is a new organization devoted to bringing together art historians, curators, and critics for discussions on pressing concerns in contemporary art. It breaks away from the traditional symposium model, and offers an intimate environment for spontaneous and collective thinking—one we hope will foster a growing collegiality in the field.
Approximately twelve participants—mostly younger scholars, curators, and critics—will come together for the seminar’s first two sessions, each devoted to open discussion. (A parallel set of meetings, scheduled simultaneously, will bring together approximately twenty students from George Washington University, University of Illinois, and University of Maryland.) Our final session on Saturday afternoon will be public. The meetings are held at the Center for the Study of Modern Art at the Phillips Collection in Washington, D.C.
